The Path and Why We Chose It

How come we chose to go it ourselves?

The short of it: we have a vision that, for better or for worse, we do not want corrupted, altered, or impinged upon. Our goal is to create truly unique texts. Is that even possible? We’re darn sure going to try.

Though our works are tagged with “genres” to give prospective readers an idea about what they might be getting into, we do not believe in the typical “genre conventions” and will not be limited by such predetermined expectations. So please, Dearest Reader, go in with an open mind and be prepared to face the unknown. Breaking the rules is the only way for us to break through the wall. Our works stand for themselves.

We are here to build an oeuvre; a living, breathing universe wherein Tale A, though perhaps eons and light-years removed from Tale D, is still connected to it.

Everything is always connected–and the lifeblood SHELL runs through it.

The Tools

We use, to the greatest extent possible, Free Open Source Software (FOSS) for everything from drafting to graphic design, layout, and publishing.

Operating System: Manjaro (Linux) – We have been experimenting with Manjaro for the better part of a year. After plenty of updates and zero hiccoughs, we’re pretty confident with a Manjaro foundation for our work.

Editing & Revision: Libre Office – Libre Office does everything we need it to do and more.

Layout: Scribus – Discovering Scribus was a real boon. Professional quality page layout and design without the Adobe price tag.

Graphics: Inkscape, GIMP – Two very powerful graphic design and manipulation programs.

Publishing: Amazon KDP – We have decided to go with Amazon KDP for our debut novel, SHELL (coming Summer 2021!). This allows us to publish in both print and E-book format simultaneously.

The Dawn of an Oeuvre

We’re an experiment, building a library from pen to paper to print. What you will find here are not your typical tales, but real playgrounds of the imagination, adventures from the beyond and within and without.

Our highest held belief is that Imagination should never be impeded.

A little hint to those trying to divine a greater meaning from these realities we’re assembling:

Everything is always connected.

Don’t ever forget it.
